The interval between routine checks should reflect your oral health and risk.
One interval does not suit everyone
A routine check-up does not have to follow an automatic six-month schedule. Your dentist recommends an interval based on the condition of your teeth and gums and the risk of future problems. Some people need more frequent reviews than others, and the recommendation can change over time.
Use the appointment to review changes
A check-up includes assessing oral health and discussing relevant changes in health, symptoms and habits. Tell the dentist about concerns since your last visit. Ask why a particular recall interval is recommended and what changes should prompt you to contact the practice sooner.
Separate recall from treatment visits
Routine check-ups are different from appointments needed to complete a course of treatment or investigate a new problem. Do not wait until the next planned check-up if symptoms develop. Dr. Abdullah offers a free check-up and consultation; follow-up arrangements are discussed for the individual.
