What is a surgical tooth extraction?
A surgical extraction is used when a tooth cannot be removed in the simple way, for example when it has broken at the gumline or is only partly through the gum, as can happen with some wisdom teeth. It may involve a small opening in the gum and is done under local anaesthetic. Dr. Abdullah has a particular interest in surgery and is currently an oral surgery resident.
